Hyderabad, June 24: K.T. Rama Rao, the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy of staging a political drama regarding the Hyderabad Metro Rail issue. He claims they are attempting to conceal alleged scams linked to metro assets worth approximately ₹30,000 crores.
Addressing a meeting of BRS workers in Serilingampally, KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy aims to transfer valuable metro-related land, spanning about 250 acres, and assets worth ₹30,000 crores to his family members, relatives, and close associates.
He further claimed that the Chief Minister pressured officials from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad, forcing them to leave the state to facilitate the acquisition of these assets.
KTR accused Revanth Reddy of wanting to shift the metro’s ₹14,000 crore liabilities onto the people of Telangana to gain control over metro properties. He warned that the state government is willing to assume the private company’s debts, which could plunge the metro project into financial turmoil.
KTR expressed skepticism about the sudden concern shown by the Chief Minister regarding the metro project, suggesting it is a cover-up for a significant financial scam. He noted that the BRS has previously exposed alleged scams by the Congress government and is now alerting the public about a new major scandal.
He stated that the people of Telangana will eventually learn who is involved in the buying and selling of the ₹30,000 crore metro-related lands and how these assets ultimately reach Revanth Reddy’s family.
KTR questioned the intentions of both the BJP and Congress governments, asking why the central government has not approved the metro extension from Lakdikapul to Patancheru, proposed by the previous BRS government, if it is genuinely committed to Telangana’s development.
He highlighted that while the central government has approved metro projects in several small towns in Uttar Pradesh, Telangana has not received similar support.
The BRS leader alleged that Revanth Reddy and Kishan Reddy pretend to oppose each other in Hyderabad but collaborate in New Delhi, attempting to distract the public.
KTR reminded the public that Revanth Reddy canceled the airport metro project, while Kishan Reddy failed to secure approval for the metro extension from the center.
He noted that the previous BRS government initiated the Hyderabad Airport Metro Express project from the financial district to the airport, which did not require extensive land acquisition. If this project had continued, it would have been completed by now, alleviating traffic congestion for millions of passengers.
He blamed the halt of this project on a lack of vision and priorities for development since Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister.
KTR also mentioned that while the Congress government started the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, it was left incomplete. Former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao completed over 70% of the project and made it available for public use.
