PM Modi Expresses Condolences Over Indian Deaths in Ras Laffan Incident

New Delhi, June 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incident that occurred at the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar. He also extended his gratitude to the Amir of Qatar for his condolences.

PM Modi stated that both India and Qatar stand united with the affected families during this tragedy, emphasizing their commitment to the safety and welfare of their citizens.

In a message on the social media platform ‘X’, he wrote, “I thank the Amir of Qatar for calling to express his condolences over the deaths of Indian nationals in the tragic incident at Ras Laffan Industrial City. We share in the grief of the families who have lost their loved ones, and we pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”

The Prime Minister reiterated that India and Qatar are fully committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of their citizens and will stand firmly together during this challenging time.

The unfortunate incident at Ras Laffan Industrial City, which occurred on Sunday night, resulted in the deaths of 12 Indian nationals. The company clarified that the incident was an industrial accident caused by a technical malfunction.

India has expressed deep sorrow over the accident and is working with local authorities to repatriate the deceased.

On Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal remarked that the loss of 12 Indian citizens is extremely unfortunate. He noted that people from several other countries also lost their lives in the explosion at Ras Laffan, and many others were injured.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also expressed his deep sadness regarding the incident. He posted on social media platform X, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the deaths and injuries, including Indian nationals, in the explosion at Ras Laffan.”
