New Delhi, August 3: The sacred month of Sawan began on July 30 and will continue until August 28. This year, there are four Mondays during Sawan, with significant astrological events occurring, particularly on the third Monday, which is considered the most auspicious day of the month.
August 3 marks the first Monday of Sawan. A large number of devotees are flocking to Shiva temples across the country to perform water abhishek (ritual bathing) for Lord Shiva. On this day, the auspicious combination of Sukarma Yoga and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is present. It is recommended to perform special water abhishek to alleviate financial troubles, debts, or monetary obstacles.
The second Monday of Sawan falls on August 10. This day features a rare conjunction of Somavari Vrat, Trayodashi Tithi, and Pradosh Vrat. Worshipping Lord Shiva on this auspicious day yields double the benefits. Performing water abhishek and Rudrabhishek on this day fulfills desires. Offering bel leaves, dhatura, and milk at the Shivling is advised.
August 17 is the third Monday of Sawan. After 23 years, this Monday coincides with Nag Panchami, creating a significant event known as Somvati Nag Panchami. On this day, mixing sandalwood, bel leaves, and milk with Ganga water for abhishek will bring special blessings. Additionally, the unique combination of Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Shivvas will be present.
The fourth Monday of Sawan is on August 24, marking the last Monday of the month. This day will also feature the Sarvartha Siddhi conjunction. Worshipping Lord Shiva on this day is particularly fruitful. After offering water and Ganga water to the Shivling, devotees should present coconuts, black sesame seeds, bel leaves, incense, lamps, and naivedya, followed by performing aarti to fulfill their wishes.
