New Delhi, August 3: Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyar Saidov arrived in New Delhi on Monday for an official visit aimed at strengthening the relationship between India and Uzbekistan.
Welcoming his arrival, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed warm greetings on the social media platform X. Saidov is in India from August 3 to August 5 at the invitation of the Indian government.
During his visit, the Uzbek Foreign Minister will meet with President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and engage in discussions with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
He will also participate in a business forum in New Delhi, where opportunities for enhancing economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations will be explored.
This visit comes at a time when India and Uzbekistan are keen to deepen their strategic partnership across various sectors, including trade, investment, technology, energy, education, and connectivity.
Prior to this visit, Dr. Jaishankar spoke with Saidov over the phone on July 20, where both leaders discussed ways to strengthen mutual cooperation. Following their conversation, Dr. Jaishankar noted that their discussions focused on deepening bilateral relations in trade, investment, and other areas. Saidov emphasized the importance of the dialogue, stating that both sides agreed to continue regular and trust-based communication between their foreign ministries.
India and Uzbekistan have maintained close diplomatic engagement under their strategic partnership. In May, the two countries held the 17th round of Foreign Office Consultations in New Delhi, where officials reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Saidov’s visit is expected to give a new momentum to India-Uzbekistan relations, particularly in enhancing economic partnerships and exploring new areas of collaboration between the two strategic partners in Central Asia.
