New Delhi, February 16: Punit Chandok, President of Microsoft India and South Asia, stated on Monday that artificial intelligence (AI) models are improving rapidly, with the potential for significant growth in the sector over the next three years.
Chandok made these remarks during the “AI for Disaster Management: Anticipatory, Hyperlocal, Scalable” session at the AI Impact Summit 2026.
He highlighted that the pace of AI advancements in recent months indicates a transformative shift in technology. Today’s AI models are highly sophisticated, and the world is ready to embrace them. With AI, we can now progress at a much faster rate than before.
Regarding the ongoing debate on improvements in AI, he noted that visible changes have occurred, particularly in the last six months. According to him, the AI sector could grow a thousandfold in the next three years.
Chandok pointed out that coding has emerged as a significant application of AI. Previously, AI offered minor assistance in coding, but now it is deeply integrated into business operations. He mentioned that AI-powered digital assistants are now functioning as team members within companies.
He also remarked that AI can now draft legal documents, raising questions about how companies will maintain control and security over such systems. With the increasing influence of AI, companies must consider sovereignty at their level.
He explained that businesses are transitioning from solely cloud-based models to adopting AI-first strategies. Future companies will be built on AI foundations rather than just cloud infrastructure.
On the impact of AI on jobs, he asserted that AI will not eliminate jobs but will transform them. He emphasized the need for individuals to continuously learn new technologies.
Chandok concluded by stating, “If you are not learning AI today, you are not learning anything.”
