Rajeev Chandrasekhar Boosts BJP Vote Share in Kerala, Says Vellapalli Natesan

Alappuzha: Padma Bhushan awardee and SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellapalli Natesan expressed strong confidence in BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar ahead of the upcoming elections. He claimed that BJP workers are showing positive energy and that the party’s vote share in Kerala is set to increase.

In an interaction with a news agency, Natesan stated, “BJP is not weakening in Kerala; it is growing. Since Rajeev Chandrasekhar took charge, there has been a clear change in the party. The responsibilities he has undertaken and the promises he has made reflect his capability. He talks only about what he can do and fulfills his commitments. There is positive energy among BJP workers. I am not saying BJP will win many seats, but the vote share will definitely rise.”

During the discussion, Natesan also voiced dissatisfaction over the lack of priority given to the SNDP’s political wing, BDJS (Bharatiya Dharma Jana Sena). He pointed out that although BDJS is part of the NDA, the alliance’s main party, BJP, has not paid sufficient attention to its growth.

He said, “In the LDF, we see how the Pinarayi Vijayan government treats its allied parties. Compared to that, BJP or NDA is not giving us the respect we expect. Even alliance parties without MLAs have been given posts by the Pinarayi government.”

Natesan clarified that BDJS does not believe in switching alliances under any circumstances. “We want to remain with the NDA and have high hopes from Rajeev Chandrasekhar. I do not think BDJS will join the Left Front,” he added.

He emphasised community unity against communal appeasement, stating that unity is essential not only between Nair and Ezhava communities but also among Adivasis and the Christian community.

Natesan shared, “We have discussed with some bishops and Scheduled Caste leaders. Sukumaran Nair spoke about unity between Nairs and Ezhavas, which gave me confidence. He took a strong stand against those who insulted me for sitting in the Chief Minister’s car during a programme, and also against opposition leader VD Satheesan, who verbally attacked me.”

He further said, “Nairs and Ezhavas, across all faiths and beliefs, are ultimately Hindus. Some forces are trying to create conflict among Hindus, but we will not allow that. We consider the NSS community as our brothers. Our stance will remain the same even after the elections.”
