Jaipur, August 27: Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur police have made a significant breakthrough in the fight against inter-state drug trafficking by dismantling an alleged smack trafficking gang. Two suspects were arrested, and police seized 153.34 grams of illegal smack from their possession.
According to police reports, the estimated value of the recovered smack in the international market is around ₹3 crore.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Jyeshtha Maitrey and led by Station House Officer Shyamsundar of the Ranwajna Dungar police station. The success was achieved based on intelligence received from the Jaipur Range Cyber Cell.
Authorities were alerted that a pickup truck carrying narcotics was heading from Kota towards the Kustala toll plaza on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Additionally, it was reported that a Swift Dzire car from Lalsot would arrive to collect the drug shipment, and a deal would take place on the expressway.
Upon receiving this information, the police team arrived at the scene, where they found the Swift Dzire and the pickup truck parked facing each other.
The police identified Subhash Gurjar, a resident of the Khoili police area in Karauli district, currently living in Dausa, in the Swift Dzire. Meanwhile, Ramniwas Meena, from the Khedi police area in Baran district, was found in the pickup truck.
As part of the legal process, both vehicles and their occupants were searched. During the search, 153.34 grams of smack wrapped in khaki tape was recovered from Gurjar’s car.
In preliminary questioning, Gurjar allegedly stated that he had received the smack from Ramniwas Meena.
According to police, both suspects admitted during interrogation that they had been involved in smack trafficking for a long time. They supplied the drug in various areas, including Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Dausa, Jaipur, and the National Capital Region. Buyers would then sell the narcotic in smaller quantities for substantial profits.
Currently, police are conducting thorough interrogations of both suspects and gathering information on other members of the gang, suppliers, and buyers.
The operation involved significant contributions from the Ranwajna Dungar police, the DST Sawai Madhopur, and the Jaipur Range Cyber Cell. ASI Ratandeep and Head Constables Rakesh, Roshan, and Jitendra Kumar also played vital roles in the campaign.
