Jaipur, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma convened a high-level meeting at his residence on September 10 to discuss the situation regarding lumpy skin disease and the measures being taken for effective control.
During the meeting, Sharma highlighted the government’s coordinated efforts for the protection and promotion of cattle. He noted that cases of the disease have been reported in only a few districts in the eastern part of the state, not throughout Rajasthan.
The Chief Minister called for an acceleration of the vaccination campaign across the state and ensured the availability of disease-resistant medications in affected areas. He also stressed the need to isolate infected animals in shelters and other locations while implementing necessary management measures.
Sharma directed officials and staff to maintain continuous monitoring in the field. He urged livestock owners to adopt essential precautions and emphasized the importance of ongoing departmental monitoring for disease prevention.
Officials from the Animal Husbandry Department reported that 10,403 animals have been infected with lumpy skin disease in the state. Of these, 6,905 have recovered, with recovery rates on the rise. Over 87 percent of the vaccination drive has been completed statewide. The department has implemented several initiatives, including establishing control rooms at the state and district levels, forming rapid response teams at the district and block levels, and distributing cypermethrin and sodium hypochlorite to livestock owners.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan, Additional Chief Secretary Akhil Arora, Principal Secretary of Finance Vaibhav Gahlot, Principal Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Cow Development Sitaramji Bhale, along with other senior officials. Animal Husbandry Minister Jorararam Kumawat participated via video conferencing.
