Rajasthan Government Boosts Womens Empowerment Through Raj Sakhi Stores and Rural BPOs

Jaipur, March 6: The Rajasthan government is actively promoting women’s empowerment and financial inclusion. Officials reported that due to the state’s initiatives, over 1.6 million women have become ‘Lakshmi Didis’ across the state.

On Thursday, officials announced that to provide economic support and job opportunities to rural women, ₹100 crore will be allocated to establish rural women’s BPOs at the district level. Additionally, the loan limit under the Chief Minister Lakshmi Didi Loan Scheme has been increased from ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh, further encouraging women’s entrepreneurship.

To empower women, several innovative initiatives are being implemented through the Rural Livelihood Development Council (Rajeevika). This year’s budget includes provisions for 100 cluster-level associations formed under Rajeevika, which will receive office spaces and other facilities. These offices will also host centers for digital and financial literacy.

By improving branding, design, and packaging of products created by self-help groups, 50 new enterprises will be developed in sectors such as dairy, textiles, footwear, millet, and spices. The state government will coordinate with national and international institutions to promote the marketing of these products. Efforts are ongoing to encourage women’s entrepreneurship.

It is noteworthy that Raj Sakhi Stores will be established in all divisional headquarters to provide capacity-building support to women associated with Rajeevika, helping them succeed in their entrepreneurial ventures. Gradually, entrepreneurship and capacity-building centers will be set up in all districts. The loan limit under the Chief Minister Nari Shakti Entrepreneurship Promotion Scheme has been raised from ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore. Additionally, around 5,000 women from self-help groups will be trained as ‘Banking Correspondent Sakhi.’

To strengthen the livelihoods of women self-help groups for the availability of fruits and vegetables for mid-day meals at anganwadi centers and schools, 11,000 Amrit Nutrition Gardens will be developed. Courses on early childhood care and education will also be organized for anganwadi workers, with special training provided to 1,000 workers from prestigious institutions.

This year’s budget has expanded the Adolescent Girls Scheme, which was previously implemented in aspirational districts like Karauli, Dholpur, Baran, Jaisalmer, and Sirohi. Now, it will be rolled out in all 27 aspirational blocks of the state, benefiting over 50,000 adolescent girls with nutritional supplements. Furthermore, phased facilities for the Chief Minister Shishu Vatsalya Sadan will be established in government offices during office hours for the care of children aged six months to six years. The safety of women remains a top priority for the state government.

To combat harassment of women in public spaces, domestic violence, and other crimes, the number of Kalika Patrol Units will be increased from 500 to 600. Women’s barracks will also be developed in 100 police stations. Additionally, to enhance tourist safety and assistance, female security personnel and guides will be appointed to strengthen the tourism assistance force.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, women are being empowered through various schemes such as the Nutrition Nutri-Kit, Lado Incentive Scheme, Chief Minister Nari Shakti Training and Skill Enhancement, Chief Minister Nari Shakti Entrepreneurship Promotion, Solar Didis, and Lakshmi Didis. These initiatives have significantly benefited women, strengthening their economic status and increasing their participation in decision-making, ensuring their active contribution to the state’s development.
