Traditional Crafts Fair to Launch in Rajgir, Inaugurated by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi

Rajgir, March 14: A two-day exhibition and trade fair showcasing the skills of traditional artisans will commence in the historic city of Rajgir, Bihar, on March 15. The event will take place at the International Convention Center in Rajgir on March 15 and 16. Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Jitan Ram Manjhi will inaugurate the fair under the Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Scheme.

Ghamandi Lal Meena, Assistant Director and Program Coordinator of the MSME Development Office in Patna, confirmed that all preparations for the fair are complete. The central minister has given his consent for the inauguration. This event aims to provide a significant market for traditional artisans, strengthen their economic status, and realize the commitment to ‘Vocal for Local.’

Eighteen traditional crafts associated with the Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Scheme will be represented at the fair. Artisans including carpenters, blacksmiths, potters, goldsmiths, tailors, masons, cobblers, and barbers will showcase their exquisite handmade products. Attendees will have the opportunity to admire, purchase these products, and encourage local talents. This will directly benefit the artisans financially and facilitate the marketing of their products.

The fair’s objective extends beyond mere sales. Artisans will receive comprehensive information about the benefits available under the scheme, including free skill training, toolkit incentives, advantages of digital transactions, and loans at low-interest rates. Additionally, information on other MSME ministry initiatives, such as enterprise registration, entrepreneurship development, and self-employment, will also be shared.

The department has urged citizens, youth, and entrepreneurs to attend the fair in large numbers. This will promote local products and strengthen the dream of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). The Rajgir fair is not only an opportunity for artisans but will also attract tourists, allowing them to experience a blend of ancient heritage and modern markets.

This event will serve as an excellent example of the effective implementation of the Prime Minister’s Vishwakarma Scheme in Eastern India, helping traditional arts gain global recognition.
