New Delhi, March 14: In a significant move against corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two head constables from the Delhi Police for their involvement in a bribery case.
The CBI apprehended the officers from PS Sultanpuri, Delhi, for demanding and accepting an illegal bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant. The agency registered a case against the accused on Friday.
Allegations state that the constables sought the bribe in exchange for allowing the complainant to continue his online betting activities. On March 13, the CBI set a trap and caught both officers red-handed while they were accepting the bribe.

In a related case, a CBI court in Bhubaneswar convicted Radha Krishna Sahu, a former assistant superintendent at the post office in Baripada, for accepting a bribe. He was sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹1 lakh.
The CBI had filed a case against Sahu in February 2014, accusing him of demanding ₹2 lakh from a complainant to initiate his joining process at the Debsol branch post office. After failing to take any action, Sahu agreed to accept ₹50,000 in two installments. The CBI caught him accepting ₹20,000 from the complainant on February 6, 2014. Following the investigation, the agency filed a chargesheet against him on June 25, 2014.
