200 Couples Unite in Marriage at Chief Ministers Mass Wedding in Shujalpur

Shujalpur, March 14: In a significant event held on Saturday, approximately 200 couples participated in a multi-religious mass wedding ceremony under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Yojana in Shujalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

According to official reports, among the newlyweds, 162 couples belonged to the Hindu community, while 38 couples were from the Muslim community. The weddings were conducted following the traditional customs of their respective religions.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav attended the ceremony virtually from his residence in Bhopal, extending his best wishes to the newly married couples. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to the dignity, empowerment, and social security of daughters across the state.

He stated, “Mass weddings symbolize social unity. I am pleased that on Saturday, the marriages of 162 daughters and the nikah of 38 daughters were successfully completed in Shujalpur.”

Inder Singh Parmar, a senior BJP leader and Minister of Higher Education, was present at the ceremony along with local party workers, distributing gifts to the newlyweds.

The Madhya Pradesh government provides direct financial assistance of ₹49,000 to the bank accounts of brides from economically weaker sections under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana to support their marriages.

During the event, the marriage of the son of Sita Devi Ramchandra Patodia, the president of the Shujalpur Janpad Panchayat, was also highlighted on stage.

Prominent attendees included District Panchayat President Hemraj Singh Sisodia, State BJP Secretary Babita Parmar, BJP District General Secretary Vijay Bes, and District Collector Riju Bafna.

Before the wedding ceremony, a grand procession of grooms traveled approximately 1.5 kilometers from the police station intersection to the venue. Minister Parmar was seen participating in the procession alongside BJP leaders and officials, dancing while wearing traditional turbans.

The security arrangements were overseen by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rajkumar Halder and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nimish Deshmukh, with Police Station In-Charge SK Yadav and Praveen Pathak deployed with their teams.
