Jaipur, August 12: The Rajasthan government has ordered a significant reshuffle in the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) by transferring 183 officials ahead of the upcoming Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections.
The Personnel Department issued transfer and posting orders on Tuesday, which are effective immediately. This reshuffle follows directives from the State Election Commission, which called for the transfer of officials who have been stationed in the same location for three years or are working in their home districts.
This move is seen as a crucial administrative exercise before the elections, as the state government aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and neutral electoral process.
Notable names on the transfer list include Yogesh Kumar Srivastava, a 2008 batch RAS officer who was serving as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s office. He has now been appointed as the General Manager of Ganganagar Sugar Mills Limited in Jaipur.
The transfer list includes officials from various districts, departments, development authorities, and local bodies. Many have been assigned new responsibilities in key administrative positions such as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and Additional District Magistrate (ADM).
Pinky Meena, a prominent RAS officer, has also been transferred in this recent reshuffle. This marks her second transfer in two months. She has been appointed as the Assistant Collector (Headquarters) in Dausa, having previously worked as the Assistant Director in the Administrative Reforms and Coordination Department in Sawai Madhopur.
In accordance with the State Election Commission’s directives, the government has also relocated officials who were working in their home districts.
Other officials whose postings have been changed include Mahavir Kharadi, Ashok Kumar IV, Naresh Bunkar, Rajveer Singh Chaudhary, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Alok Jain, Akash Ranjan, Jagdish Prasad Gaur, Rajkumar Kaswa, and Om Prakash Saharan.
This extensive reshuffle comes at a critical time as Rajasthan prepares for elections to urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions. With the code of conduct expected to be implemented soon, the state government is taking steps to streamline administrative arrangements for election management.
The purpose of these transfers is to prevent potential administrative influence in the electoral process by ensuring that officials do not remain in the same position for too long, while also placing key officials in important roles ahead of the elections.
In the coming days, there is also an expectation of a transfer list for IAS officers, which could be part of a larger effort by the state government to organize the administrative machinery before the code of conduct takes effect.
As local body elections approach, the reshuffle of RAS officials on Tuesday stands as one of the most significant administrative changes made in Rajasthan ahead of the upcoming elections.
