Jaipur: The impact of the severe cold wave and dropping temperatures continues to intensify across Rajasthan. Following the closure of schools in Baran district, the state government has now ordered the temporary shutdown of schools in three additional districts—Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Bundi—due to persistently low temperatures.
According to official orders issued on Monday, all government and private schools in these districts will remain closed for primary students as a precautionary measure against the cold.
In Hanumangarh, District Collector Khushal Yadav has directed that classes 1 to 8 in both government and private schools will be closed from January 6 to January 10. However, classes 9 to 12 will continue as usual. The leave applies only to students; school staff are required to attend and perform their duties as per department guidelines.
Similarly, Sri Ganganagar District Collector Manju has announced the closure of all government and private schools for nursery to class 5 students from January 6 to January 12. For students in classes 6 to 12, school hours have been revised to run from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
In Bundi district, a two-day holiday has been declared due to severe cold conditions.
The Meteorological Department has issued warnings that the harsh cold wave is likely to persist into the coming week. Alerts have been issued for districts including Alwar, Jaipur, Churu, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu for January 6 and 7-8, with yellow alerts in place for several areas.
Authorities have urged parents and schools to remain vigilant and strictly follow official instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of students during this period.
