Rajasthan: ACB Arrests Police Constable and Accomplice for Accepting Bribe

Jaipur, March 26: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajasthan has arrested two individuals, including a police constable, for allegedly accepting a bribe. The arrests occurred in Alwar, and the accused are currently being interrogated. The investigation is being overseen by Smita Srivastava, Additional Director General of the ACB, and S. Parimala, Inspector General of the ACB.

According to reports, the incident took place at the Kathumar police station in Alwar district, where the constable was accused of soliciting a bribe. Govind Gupta, the Director General of the ACB, stated that the arrests followed a complaint received on the ACB’s helpline (1064).

The complainant alleged that ASI Narendra Singh, Constable Rameshwar Singh (number 17), and another individual named Niranjan Singh were demanding ₹20,000 to provide relief in a case registered against the complainant’s cousin at the Kathumar police station.

In response to the complaint, the ACB initiated a procedure under the supervision of Anil Kayal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jaipur Range. After confirming the allegations, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravindra Singh from the ACB’s Dausa unit set a trap. During the operation, Constable Rameshwar Singh and Niranjan Singh were caught red-handed accepting the bribe from the complainant.

It was reported that Niranjan Singh received the bribe amount, which was subsequently recovered in full by the ACB team. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into ASI Narendra Singh’s involvement is ongoing, and his arrest is pending.

The ACB has stated that a case will be registered under sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, among other provisions. Further legal proceedings are underway.
