Rahul Gandhi Emphasizes Love and Respect for All in India

New Delhi, August 21: In a powerful address on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, stressed the importance of making every individual in the country feel loved, regardless of their religion, caste, age, or gender.

Speaking at the ‘Hara Bharat Swaraj’ event, commemorating the 82nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he accused the BJP of targeting minorities, Dalits, and tribal communities.

Gandhi stated that the BJP tells Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs that they have no existence. He claimed that the party threatens tribal people with land confiscation and warns that they could be shot if they protest. He also mentioned that the BJP dismisses the oppression faced by Dalits as insignificant. “This is what has been done to our country,” he remarked.

He emphasized the need for a change, insisting that every person in the nation should feel a sense of belonging, love, and respect.

The senior Congress leader explained that the term ‘Swaraj’ is a uniquely Indian concept, often misinterpreted in English as ‘freedom.’ He clarified that Swaraj means ‘self-governance’ and noted that while one can grant freedom, true Swaraj cannot be given by one person to another.

Gandhi highlighted that Mahatma Gandhi envisioned a path for every individual to follow, recognizing each being as a unique entity with their own journey towards truth.

He further elaborated that Gandhi’s vision cannot be realized without addressing fundamental issues. “It cannot be achieved with an education system that is prohibitively expensive, or an examination system that is unjust. It cannot happen under a financial system monopolized by a few, nor without a political system that deeply engages with the country,” he asserted.

In a direct appeal to students and youth, he insisted that their aspirations must be respected.

Gandhi concluded by stating that the ideological struggle in India today stems from a few individuals in power who believe they alone hold the truth for everyone. This, he argued, is why students face daily attacks.
