
New Delhi, June 7: Central Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently received several important suggestions from students. Among these was the establishment of sports universities in every state. Additionally, the proposal to develop sports excellence centers and multi-sport complexes in each district was highlighted.
The Ministry has approved the demand for an Olympic-standard synthetic athletic track at Punjab University. A delegation from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad met with the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya. During this meeting, they submitted a memorandum addressing various suggestions related to the development of sports culture in the country, youth empowerment, and the interests of athletes.
The suggestions included a call for developing a national infrastructure in preparation for the 2036 Olympics. Other proposals involved launching talent identification campaigns in rural and tribal areas, providing health and accident insurance for athletes, establishing a sports equipment bank, creating a national digital athlete portal, and increasing the honorarium for ‘My India’ volunteers.
A key achievement from the discussion with Minister Mandaviya was the acceptance of the demand for an Olympic-standard synthetic athletic track at Punjab University. The government informed that the process for its construction will be expedited.
It was noted that significant progress on this project is expected within the next two to three months. The suggestion to establish a sports equipment bank in rural areas was also appreciated, with assurances of prompt positive initiatives in this direction. According to the Vidyarthi Parishad, India’s youth power is the country’s greatest strength and will play a crucial role in building a developed India.
If modern sports infrastructure, scientific training, quality coaching, equal opportunities, and effective protection of athletes’ interests are ensured, India can rapidly advance towards becoming a global sports powerhouse. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad welcomed the positive assurances from the government. The student organization believes that swift and effective decisions on these matters will invigorate the sports culture in the country and lay a strong foundation for the holistic development of athletes and youth.
