Greater Noida Police Launches Major Campaign Against Public Drinking, 366 Arrested

Greater Noida, June 7: The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has initiated a special campaign targeting individuals consuming alcohol in public spaces. In a significant operation, the Central Noida zone police took action against 366 individuals for violating the law.

According to police officials, this campaign was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh. The operation was monitored by DCP Central Noida, Shailendra Kumar Singh.

During the campaign, 366 individuals found drinking in public were charged under Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police stated that public drinking can disrupt law and order and public peace, prompting a focused approach to such incidents.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has made it clear that this campaign against public drinking will continue. Authorities have urged citizens to adhere to regulations in public spaces and cooperate in maintaining law and order.

Officials emphasized that such actions will persist to ensure peace in the city and provide a safe environment for the public.

In a related incident, a confrontation occurred between police and snatchers in the Beta-2 area of Greater Noida on Saturday. One notorious criminal was injured, while his accomplice managed to escape.

The police apprehended the injured criminal, recovering an illegal firearm, a stolen motorcycle, a looted gold chain, and three snatched mobile phones. Authorities reported that during the investigation, a biker attempted to flee at high speed and fired at the police with intent to kill. The police pursued the suspects and returned fire, injuring one of the criminals in the leg. The injured suspect was identified as Rajendra, also known as Lallu or Leelu, aged 26.
