Kolkata, June 7: Agnimitra Paul, a minister in the West Bengal government, has criticized Mamata Banerjee‘s upcoming visit to Delhi for an opposition alliance meeting. In a conversation, he raised questions about the purpose of the meeting and the so-called ‘Indi Alliance’ being discussed.
Paul pointed out that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has written to Congress, questioning why the same Congress that frequently claims there is an under-the-table alliance with the BJP and CPI(M) is now inviting them to the ‘India’ alliance.
He stated that the Left will not attend the ‘India’ alliance meeting. MK Stalin is also expected to be absent, and there are reports that Lalu Yadav may not attend due to health issues. Paul remarked that Mamata Banerjee’s TMC seems to be slipping from her grasp, raising doubts about who will actually participate in the meeting. He asserted that the ‘India’ alliance lacks a coherent policy and will not endure, as the public has entirely dismissed the opposition coalition.
Regarding TMC MP Yusuf Pathan from Baharampur, Paul said she could not comment much, noting that he is rarely seen in his constituency. Therefore, whether he remains with TMC or joins another party will not significantly impact the people in his area.
On the attacks against Abhishek Banerjee, she refrained from commenting on the reasons behind them but noted that the public is expressing their discontent towards every TMC leader. Instead of using the term “attack,” she mentioned that eggs are being thrown at them, emphasizing the principle of karma: “You reap what you sow.”
Paul criticized TMC leaders for their arrogance and corruption over the past 15 years, stating they believed they were indispensable. However, the people of Bengal have revealed their true nature.
Commenting on Narendra Modi’s long tenure as Prime Minister, Paul expressed that they are celebrating, as PM Modi is not only the most popular leader in India but also globally recognized. He has been chosen multiple times as the world’s most popular leader. Whether during the Iran war or the Ukraine conflict, countries seek his counsel. While other nations face significant challenges, India’s fuel prices have seen only a modest increase.
