BJP Leaders Criticize TMC, Claim 15 Years of Darkness Over Bengal Sports

Kolkata, June 7: On World Bicycle Day, West Bengal Minister Nishith Pramanik inaugurated a cycling rally, targeting the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in his remarks.

In a conversation, Pramanik stated that upon taking power, they announced a ban on nepotism in sports. Following this, those involved in nepotism resigned voluntarily. He urged the remaining officials to leave with dignity, emphasizing that change has arrived in the sports sector.

Pramanik criticized the TMC, claiming that the sports scene in West Bengal had been overshadowed for the past 15 years. With the change in government, he asserted that this darkness has lifted, heralding a new dawn. The West Bengal Sports Ministry has worked to foster a sports culture across the state, launching this initiative on World Bicycle Day. Today, millions of youth participated in the cyclothon, whether in Kolkata, at the district level, or in blocks.

Minister Ashok Dinda added that a significant event was organized under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Celebrated as ‘Fit India‘ and World Bicycle Day, this event is being observed not just in West Bengal but across India and the globe, with people cycling everywhere. “If India stays fit, it will thrive,” he remarked.

Kalyan Chaubey, President of the All India Football Federation, noted that the Prime Minister actively promotes sports and athletes. He lamented that West Bengal has historically opposed the central government, hindering the implementation of its schemes. This opposition has significantly harmed the state’s sports landscape over the past 15 years, resulting in a surge of athletes participating in cycling events.
