Chandigarh, August 6: In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Punjab Police achieved a major breakthrough in Sangrur. Under the leadership of SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal, the police team apprehended two drug traffickers. On Thursday, Sangrur Police informed the media that these traffickers had been active in the area for some time and were arrested as part of an ongoing crackdown.
The suspects have been identified as Simranjeet Singh, also known as Mowgli, and Gurpreet Singh, referred to as Bhairo. Authorities revealed that both individuals had been involved in extensive drug operations in the Sangrur region. Mowgli was found in possession of 510 grams of heroin, a commercial quantity.
During the interrogation of Mowgli, information led to the arrest of Bhairo, who was found with three weapons, three live cartridges, and 50 grams of heroin. Investigators noted that the case revealed some interstate connections involving the suspects. Among the seized weapons, several were modern.
It was also disclosed that Bhairo had recently returned from Maharashtra and Gujarat, where he was allegedly engaged in drug trafficking. Both suspects have a criminal history; Mowgli has four previous FIRs against him, while Bhairo has 16 FIRs registered at various police stations. Bhairo is wanted in several cases and has previously served time in jail. He had been missing from the area for some time, but police successfully apprehended him.
