Vice President to Address AIIMS Deoghars Second Convocation on October 10

Deoghar, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to visit Deoghar, Jharkhand, on October 10. He will address the second convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) during his visit.

In addition to the convocation, Radhakrishnan will tour the BBMT Hospital, where a ‘military contact fair’ is being held. Earlier this week, he spoke at the second convocation of the Shree Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University in New Delhi’s Qutub Institutional Area.

During that event, he led the audience in taking an oath against substance abuse and awarded gold medals to students who excelled in their studies. Reflecting on the university’s journey from a Sanskrit Vidyapeeth to a central university, Radhakrishnan emphasized the need for the institution to establish itself as a premier international center for Sanskrit studies, fulfilling the vision of its founder, the late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Paying tribute to Shastri, the Vice President remarked that his famous slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” represented India’s commitment to safeguarding its borders and ensuring food security. He praised the university for achieving the highest NAAC grade of ‘A Plus Plus’ and for conducting research across various fields of Indian knowledge tradition.

Radhakrishnan noted that while every Indian language enriches the country, Sanskrit serves as the “golden thread” that weaves together the pearls of many languages into a magnificent garland. He commended the university’s efforts to keep Sanskrit alive through initiatives like ‘Subhashita’ and the long-standing tradition of publishing the ‘Vidyapeeth Panchang,’ alongside teaching traditional subjects such as Prakrit and Vastu Shastra.

The Vice President stressed that India’s development must be intertwined with its cultural heritage. He highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, numerous initiatives have fostered an environment conducive to the revival of Sanskrit and the promotion of the Indian knowledge system.

Referencing the National Education Policy of 2020 and the ‘Ashtadashi’ scheme, Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of preserving rare Sanskrit texts. He urged scholars to actively participate in the discovery, preservation, critical editing, and publication of unpublished Sanskrit manuscripts for future generations.
