Delhi Police Denies Permission for CJP Protest at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Police has denied permission for a planned protest by the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar on October 10. A letter from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for New Delhi informed CJP officials that their notification did not follow the required procedures, making approval impossible.

According to the police, the letter sent by CJP on October 7 was merely a notification of the proposed protest, not a formal application for permission. They stated that applications for events at Jantar Mantar must be submitted at least ten days in advance, a requirement that was not met in this case.

The letter emphasized that while protesting is a fundamental right of citizens, it is equally important to consider the rights of local residents and maintain public order. Past experiences have shown that such protests can lead to traffic jams, security concerns, and other difficulties for the general public.

The police also noted that CJP had previously been granted permission for a protest but failed to adhere to the stipulated conditions. During that event, the protest extended beyond the agreed timeframe, leading to serious issues related to law and order.

The guidelines for protests at Jantar Mantar were established in compliance with a Supreme Court order from July 23, 2018, and must be strictly followed. The police expressed concerns that allowing the protest under current circumstances could once again disrupt law and order. Therefore, they have denied the requested permission for the CJP event.

The DCP of New Delhi has made it clear that the application for the program on October 10 is rejected.
