New Delhi, May 5: Amid ongoing political developments in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is set to meet President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi along with several legislators from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This meeting comes as a response to recent issues concerning party members who have left. Prior to departing for Delhi, Mann expressed optimism, stating, “I believe the President will listen to our concerns. As the guardian of the Constitution, it is her responsibility to uphold it.”
Punjab’s Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema noted, “All 95 AAP legislators are going to meet the President. We will urge her to utilize the powers granted by the Constitution. The concept of recall should be implemented. Only Punjab can stop the BJP’s attempts to undermine democracy and attack the Constitution. We will fight to restore democracy in Punjab.”
Minister Hardip Singh Mundian added, “We are meeting the President because those who have left the party have no right to remain Rajya Sabha members from Punjab.”
Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO stated, “Today, under the leadership of our Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, we are going to meet the President of India.”
Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak emphasized, “We will not make any demands that are outside the Constitution’s framework. There is significant anger among the people of Punjab, and today we will present our requests to the President.”
AAP leader and State General Secretary Baltej Pannu remarked, “We will meet President Droupadi Murmu to inform her how the party and legislators sent these seven MPs to the Rajya Sabha, only for them to betray the party. This is not about showing strength; the recent Assembly session demonstrated confidence in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership. However, it is our fundamental right to meet the President and explain the current situation.”
