Punjab BJP Chief Urges CM Bhagwant Mann to Learn from History

Chandigarh, June 17: Punjab BJP President Kaul Singh Dhillon advised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to draw lessons from history. He reminded Mann that the Lion of Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, once bowed before the Akal Takht.

Dhillon emphasized that the arrogance of political power should never overshadow the sanctity of the Guru’s institution. He stated, “The status and authority of Sri Akal Takht Sahib is higher than any Chief Minister’s chair—today, tomorrow, and always.”

He recalled that Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who led Punjab to become a formidable empire feared by Afghans and Mughals, was summoned by Sri Akal Takht Sahib. The Jathedar Akali Baba Phoola Singh declared him a ‘Tankhaiya’ (guilty of religious misconduct). The Maharaja accepted the punishment without protest and humbly bowed his head.

Dhillon noted, “Seeing his extraordinary humility, the Sangat forgave him. This was the true identity of the ‘Lion of Punjab’—a leader for whom faith and community were above any political or royal power.”

In contrast, Dhillon accused CM Bhagwant Mann of rejecting the Akal Takht Sahib’s declaration of him as a traitor to the Guru and an enemy of the Khalsa Panth. Instead of showing humility, Mann dismissed the decision as a political conspiracy.

He also accused Mann of questioning the Jathedar and attempting to discredit the Central Forensic Laboratory’s report. Dhillon concluded by stating that history shows those who challenge Sri Akal Takht Sahib never gain political or social advantage. He urged, “Bhagwant Mann should learn from history.”
