New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : On September 13, leaders from various political backgrounds gathered to pay tribute to revolutionary freedom fighter Jatindranath Das on his death anniversary. Central ministers Manohar Lal, Nitin Gadkari, and Pankaj Chaudhary, along with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, shared their respects on social media.
Manohar Lal expressed his admiration on X, stating, “On this day of sacrifice for the great revolutionary and immortal martyr Jatindranath Das, who awakened the British Empire with his unwavering vow of ‘victory or death’ during his 63-day hunger strike, I pay my humble homage. The nation will always be proud of those who give everything for their motherland.”
Nitin Gadkari also took to X to honor Das, calling him a “great freedom fighter.” Pankaj Chaudhary remarked, “On the day of sacrifice of the immortal martyr Jatindranath Das, who gave everything for India’s freedom, I pay my humble tribute. His supreme sacrifice for the service of Mother India will always be remembered.”
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted Das’s dedication, stating, “The sacrifice and commitment of the immortal revolutionary Jatindranath Das, who considered the freedom of Mother India as his life’s duty, was unparalleled. Even a 63-day fast could not shake his unwavering resolve. We respectfully bow to this great martyr on his death anniversary.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also shared his tribute, acknowledging Das as a great revolutionary of the Indian freedom struggle. He noted Das’s courage, sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to the motherland, stating, “His sacrifice will continue to inspire us all towards patriotism and duty.”
The Congress party remembered Das, emphasizing that his bravery and dedication to India’s freedom struggle remain a source of inspiration for generations.
Born on October 27, 1904, Jatindranath Das played a significant role in the fight against British rule and was a member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. He died in Lahore’s Borstal Jail after a 63-day hunger strike advocating for the rights of political prisoners. At just 24 years old, his death marked a pivotal moment in India’s independence movement, with over half a million people attending his funeral.
