Pune, June 4: The toxic liquor case that has shaken Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad area has escalated for the main accused, Gurumangal Singh Colonel Singh Virka. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is preparing to demolish Virka’s illegal empire.
The municipal authorities have marked Virka’s residence as an ‘illegal construction.’ A strict notice has been issued, clearly stating that the entire structure is unauthorized and must be demolished by Virka within 24 hours. If he fails to comply, the municipal corporation will take action to raze the building.
The notice also warns that if Virka or his family does not remove the encroachment within the given timeframe, the municipal team, accompanied by police protection, will demolish the house. The costs of this action are likely to be recovered from the accused.
Following the toxic liquor incident, there has been significant public outrage. In response, the administration has taken this tough step to crack down on criminals. Similar to actions in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra is also intensifying efforts to demolish illegal constructions linked to offenders.
It is noteworthy that on May 29, over 12 people died after consuming toxic liquor in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. This incident has created an atmosphere of fear and anger, prompting the Pune police to take significant action by suspending three police officers associated with the Hadapsar police station.
The suspended officers include Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogale, Assistant Police Inspector Hasina Siklagar, and Police Sub-Inspector Hasan Mulani, all of whom were involved in the crime investigation mechanism at Hadapsar police station.
