
Guwahati, August 28: A remarkable opportunity has emerged for youth preparing for government jobs and awaiting vacancies. The Assam government’s Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department has officially announced the recruitment of qualified candidates for a total of 200 positions as Veterinary Field Assistants (VFA) and related cadres.
The online application process for these Veterinary Field Assistant vacancies will commence on September 3 at 10 AM, with the last date for applications set for September 23. Candidates wishing to apply for this position can complete their registration on the official website of the Assam government’s Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department once the application link is activated.
To qualify for the position of Veterinary Field Assistant, candidates must have passed the full-time HSSLC (Class 12) examination in the Science stream from a recognized board/council/university, with Biology as one of the subjects.
The minimum age for applicants is set at 18 years, while the maximum age is 40 years, calculated as of January 1, 2026. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per government rules.
Selection of eligible candidates will be based on application scrutiny, an OMR-based written examination, and document verification. Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging from ₹14,000 to ₹70,000, along with a grade pay of ₹6,200. Additional benefits and allowances will also be provided.
Candidates should note that selected individuals will be required to undergo a one-year training program at the ‘School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar,’ and other campuses under the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. Passing this training is mandatory before appointment.
