New Delhi, August 28: US Ambassador Sergio Gore has announced that India is planning to purchase the battle-tested Javelin Anti-Tank Missile System from the United States. This move is expected to further strengthen defense ties between the two nations and open new avenues for joint production.
In a post on the social media platform X, Ambassador Gore stated, “India is planning to acquire the Javelin Anti-Tank Missile System, as mentioned by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during the Shangri-La Dialogue in May 2026. This step represents significant progress in enhancing US-India defense relations and may pave the way for new opportunities in co-production.”
Gore emphasized that the level of defense and strategic cooperation between India and the US is currently at a record high. Earlier, the US Ambassador paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi and visited the Gandhi Smriti Museum.
In his post on X, Gore expressed, “It is an honor to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Smriti. His values of truth, non-violence, and peace inspire us all.” During this visit, he also shared details about his meetings with foreign counterparts.
Gore wrote, “I was delighted to meet with representatives from our partner countries, including Australian High Commissioner Philip Green, UK High Commissioner Lindy Cameron, Canadian High Commissioner Chris Cooter, and New Zealand High Commissioner Patrick Rata.”
The Ambassador noted that, as always, these discussions were productive and meaningful, allowing for the exchange of ideas on several important issues.
