New Delhi, August 28: The South District Police of Delhi has successfully resolved four motor vehicle theft cases during a special operation conducted by the Kotla Mubarakpur police station. The operation led to the recovery of two scooters, an auto rickshaw, and a car.
Authorities reported that four individuals were arrested during this operation, including a minor. The initiative resulted in action against 54 traffic violations through fines and vehicle seizures.
Under the direction of senior officials, the police intensified preventive checks to apprehend vehicle thieves. During inspections for wrong-way driving and helmet-less riding, two individuals riding scooters were stopped. It was discovered that both scooters were stolen.
The accused were identified as 19-year-old Rahman Ali and a police constable. During questioning, they admitted to stealing scooters for fun and later abandoning them. The recovered vehicles are linked to an e-FIR filed at the Kotla Mubarakpur police station.
Based on specific intelligence, the police arrested Sonu, also known as Rahul or Baba, aged 26, with a stolen auto rickshaw. Following his arrest, an e-FIR was registered under sections 305(B)/317(2) of the Indian Penal Code at the Kotla Mubarakpur police station.
The police revealed that Sonu previously worked as an auto rickshaw driver and has been involved in multiple theft cases, as well as a case under the Arms Act. Further investigation into his criminal record is ongoing.
The police also solved a car theft case linked to an e-FIR. Investigators conducted a thorough analysis of CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and on-site verification to locate the vehicle. Search operations were carried out in Lohat village, Gurugram, and other locations.
Acting on specific information, the team reached Jafar Mahal Road in Mahrauli, where they arrested 45-year-old Sunil with the stolen Creta car. He is currently in police custody for further investigation.
The police team included SI Yogesh Kumar, SI Sanjay, ASI Kailash Joshi, Head Constable Datar Singh, and others, working under the leadership of Inspector Prahlad Singh, SHO of Kotla Mubarakpur, and the overall supervision of ACP Defense Colony, Somnath Paruthi.
During this operation, the police issued 11 fines for wrong-way driving, 10 for riding without helmets, six for three people riding together, and 17 for improper parking, in addition to seizing ten vehicles.
The police stated that this operation incorporated preventive checks, CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and ground-level intelligence, which aided in detecting vehicle theft cases while strengthening traffic enforcement in the area.
