Priyansh Arya Shines in IPL 2026, Emerging as a Star from Delhi Premier League

New Delhi, April 15: Priyansh Arya, the explosive opener for Punjab Kings (PBKS), is making waves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This season, he has scored 103 runs at an impressive average of 34.33.

In his IPL 2026 debut against Gujarat Titans, Priyansh managed only 7 runs. However, he bounced back spectacularly against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), scoring 39 runs off just 11 balls, including 4 sixes and 3 fours.

A rain-affected match between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders left Priyansh without a batting opportunity. He quickly redeemed himself in the next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he scored 57 runs off just 20 balls, featuring 5 sixes and an equal number of fours.

Born on September 18, 2001, into a teaching family, Priyansh’s parents have always supported his cricketing ambitions. The aggressive left-handed batsman gained recognition through the Delhi Premier League (DPL). In the 2024 DPL, he achieved the remarkable feat of hitting 6 sixes in a single over and completed his century in just 39 balls.

In that match, Priyansh scored 120 runs off 50 balls against North Delhi, sharing a monumental partnership of 286 runs with captain Ayush Badoni.

Prior to this, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, Priyansh played 7 innings for Delhi, averaging 31.71 with a total of 222 runs. He was shortlisted for the IPL 2024 auction but went unsold. However, during the IPL 2025 auction, he was acquired by Punjab Kings for ₹3.80 crore, having a base price of ₹30 lakh. Teams like Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore also showed interest in him.

Priyansh continued his excellent form from the DPL into the IPL. In IPL 2025, he played 17 matches, scoring 475 runs at an average of 27.94, including one century and two half-centuries. In the DPL held in August 2025, he amassed 303 runs in 8 matches at an average of 37.88.

In his first-class career, Priyansh has played 2 matches, scoring 131 runs at an average of 43.66, including one half-century. In 16 List-A matches, he has accumulated 522 runs at an average of 34.80, with one century and four half-centuries. His T20 career spans 49 matches, where he has scored 1,422 runs at an average of 29.62, including 2 centuries and 7 half-centuries.
