Bhopal, February 23: A private bus traveling from Pipariya to Chhindwara overturned near the village of Renikheda in Chhindwara district on Sunday. At least 15 passengers sustained injuries in the incident.

The accident occurred around 10 AM when the bus (MP 04 PA 2644) lost control and flipped over on the roadside.

Authorities suspect that either speeding or a technical failure could have caused the mishap. Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus was traveling at high speed, which may have led to the driver’s loss of control.

Fortunately, the number of passengers on board was low at the time, preventing a more severe disaster.

Police also consider the possibility that the bus’s steering may have jammed suddenly, contributing to the accident.

Upon receiving the report, the Mahuljhir police arrived at the scene. With the help of local residents, they extricated the injured and transported them to Tamia Hospital for treatment.

According to police officials, 10 to 11 seriously injured passengers were sent to the community health center in Pipariya for advanced care, while those with minor injuries were discharged after receiving first aid.

A police officer stated, “Three individuals remain in critical condition.” The bus driver, Amar, suffered a serious head injury and has been transferred to the district hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.

Authorities called in a crane to remove the overturned bus from the road, allowing traffic to resume normal operations.

A case has been registered at the Mahuljhir police station, and an investigation into the exact causes of the accident is underway. Police are examining the bus’s speed, technical condition, and the state of the road, while also gathering statements from eyewitnesses.

This route is significant for travelers heading to major tourist destinations in the Pipariya area, such as Pachmarhi and Tamia.
