Two Employees Arrested in Unnao Scam, DM Vows Strict Action Against Wrongdoers

Unnao, June 12: In a significant development in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, two employees have been arrested in connection with a scam involving over ₹3 crore linked to the secondary education department. District Magistrate Ghanshyam Meena announced that action has been recommended against the alleged mastermind and several other involved employees. He provided details of the investigation, emphasizing that strict measures are being taken against those found responsible.

Meena stated, “We received complaints regarding financial irregularities at MRRRS Inter College in Purwa. Consequently, we formed a three-member investigation team led by the PD, DRDA.”

The DM revealed that the investigation team discovered discrepancies in the records, indicating that teachers’ salaries were being inflated to withdraw additional funds. Irregularities were also found in the arrears paid to employees.

This issue has reportedly been ongoing for nearly four years. Following verification, it was revealed that approximately ₹3 crore had been embezzled, with ₹75 lakh already recovered.

He further mentioned that a case has been filed against the involved employees, with two arrests made so far. Police actions are ongoing to apprehend other suspects.

Additionally, actions are being taken against employees working in the DIOS office. Reports are being sent to the government for stringent measures against other staff at the inter-college, along with departmental actions.

Meena assured that not only arrests are being made, but efforts are underway to ensure strict government action to prevent future financial irregularities.

He also indicated that a letter will be sent to the government to form a special audit team for a thorough investigation of other inter-colleges. Any institution found to have irregularities will face severe consequences.
