Tragic Loss: Devarias Shivanand Dies in Attack Near Oman Coast

Mumbai, June 12: Shivanand Chaurasia, a resident of Devaria, Uttar Pradesh, lost his life in a U.S. military attack on an oil tanker near the Oman coast. His family is engulfed in deep sorrow and concern following this tragic incident.

Family members have urgently appealed to both the central and state governments for the swift repatriation of Shivanand’s body to India. They are also seeking financial assistance and a government job to support their livelihood.

Shivanand was the sole breadwinner for his family, and his income was essential for their survival. Since the incident, the family has been grappling with both financial and emotional turmoil. They have called on the government for support during this challenging time to help them face the obstacles ahead.

His wife, Sushila Devi, expressed her heartfelt hope that her husband would return home safely. She urged the government to provide appropriate compensation if he has indeed faced misfortune. She emphasized the family’s precarious financial situation, as they relied entirely on Shivanand’s earnings. A government job for a family member could significantly alleviate their future economic struggles.

Meanwhile, Shivanand’s mother, Kalavati Devi, is inconsolable. She revealed that Shivanand leaves behind a son and a daughter, whose upbringing and education now pose a significant challenge for the family. She lamented that there are no other sources of income, leaving their future shrouded in uncertainty.

Shivanand’s father, Ramji Chaurasia, also requested government assistance, stating that the family has been struck by a mountain of grief. He mentioned that at his age, managing the family has become exceedingly difficult. He urged the government to provide a job to a family member and sufficient financial aid for the children’s education, health, and other essential needs.

Neighbor Ajit Kumar Shahi reported that local residents were informed of the missile attack on the ship where Shivanand was employed, leading to his tragic death. He noted that since the news broke, no senior or competent government official has visited the family. He urged the government to treat the situation with the seriousness it deserves, ensuring Shivanand’s body is respectfully returned to India and that a family member is granted a government job.
