President Murmu Honors Brave Soldiers at Defense Decoration Ceremony

New Delhi, June 8: President Droupadi Murmu awarded bravery medals during the Defense Decoration Ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday. The event commenced with the singing of the national anthem and patriotic songs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were also present, where personnel from the armed forces received awards for their valor and distinguished service.

Flight Lieutenant (currently Squadron Leader) Arshveer Singh Thakur was honored with the Vir Chakra for exceptional bravery and courage during operational duty.

Lieutenant Commander Dilna K. and Rupa A. received the Shaurya Chakra for their extraordinary courage, maritime skills, and endurance during the ‘Sagar Parikrama II’ mission.

Major Aditya Pratap Singh of the Indian Army was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for displaying exceptional valor during a military operation in a border area of Arunachal Pradesh.

Inspector Lakshman Kevat and Inspector Rameshwar Prasad Deshmukh of the Chhattisgarh Police were also honored with the Shaurya Chakra for their extraordinary bravery during anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.

Lieutenant Colonel Nitesh Bharti Shukla of the 19th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for demonstrating exceptional bravery by neutralizing three terrorists along the Line of Control.

Naib Subedar Satish Kumar received the Vir Chakra for his extraordinary valor, unwavering courage, and distinguished service during duty.

Lieutenant Colonel Sushil Bisht, Wing Commander (now Group Captain) Joy Chandra, Group Captain Manish Arora, and Group Captain Ranjit Singh Sidhu were also awarded the Vir Chakra for their exceptional bravery, courage, and distinguished service.

Rifleman Dhruva Jyoti Dutta and Naik Rahul Singh were honored with the Shaurya Chakra for their extraordinary bravery, courage, and dedication to duty.

Additionally, Major Shivant Yadav and Lieutenant Colonel Nitesh Bharat Shukla were awarded the Shaurya Chakra in recognition of their extraordinary courage, unwavering commitment to duty, and distinguished service to the nation.
