Ahmedabad, June 8: The Prime Minister Swamitva Loan Welfare Fair took place on Monday at the Kalyan Community Hall near the Vastrapur area of Ahmedabad. The event was attended by notable figures, including the city’s mayor, Hitesh Barot. Beneficiaries, primarily street vendors, received checks and approval letters during the fair.
Organized by the Urban Community Development (UCD) department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, the fair is part of the Prime Minister Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM Swamitva) scheme initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The aim is to empower urban vendors and small businesses financially.
More than 100 beneficiaries participated in the event. Under the first phase of the PM Swamitva scheme, loans were increased from ₹10,000 to ₹15,000, and in the second phase, from ₹20,000 to ₹25,000. The third phase offers loans up to ₹50,000.
The program also provided beneficiaries with information on various welfare schemes. Additionally, training for digital transactions and assistance in applying for credit cards were available. Organizers believe that this fair is not just about providing loans but also serves as an important link to other government initiatives.
