New Delhi, June 27: The political landscape surrounding the Ram Temple donation controversy continues to heat up. While officials from the Ram Temple Trust deny any wrongdoing, opposition parties and various organizations are demanding the dissolution of the Trust and the public release of the investigation report. In response, BJP leaders and supporters of the Ram Temple movement have accused the opposition of exploiting the situation for political gain while advocating for strict action against any wrongdoers.
Dinendra Das, a member of the Ram Temple Trust in Ayodhya, stated that the Trust has consistently presented its income and expenditure records publicly, with reviews conducted every three months. He emphasized that any discrepancies would be disclosed, but currently, there are no such issues. Regular worship practices, including offerings and rituals, are ongoing, and most devotees are satisfied. He labeled reports of resignations as completely false, asserting that only those looking to gain politically or financially from the name of Ram are dissatisfied.
In Ahmedabad, BJP leader Rohan Gupta asserted that anyone misusing donations made in the name of Lord Ram would face consequences. He mentioned that upon discovering alleged embezzlement, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, which submitted its report within three days, leading to immediate action. He assured that if anyone has wrongfully taken even a single rupee, it would be reclaimed, and legal action would follow. Gupta criticized those who have never supported the Ram Temple movement but are now politicizing the donation issue. He affirmed that the government is sensitive to the matter and will ensure the protection of every penny related to the faith of Ram devotees.
In Jammu, Shiv Sena (UBT) activists protested against the Ram Temple Trust, demanding its immediate dissolution. Manish Sahni, the provincial president of Jammu and Kashmir Shiv Sena (UBT), highlighted that several prominent Hindu religious sites have faced allegations of financial irregularities in recent years, impacting the faith of millions of devotees.
He pointed out past controversies regarding the purchase of land for the Ram Temple and the recent allegations of donation theft. Sahni called for greater transparency in the management of religious institutions, advocating for the independence of all Hindu temples from government control and the establishment of a Hindu protection board led by the four Shankaracharyas. He insisted that temple revenues should be directed towards Hindu culture, religious education, and public welfare initiatives.
Sahni also demanded the public release of the SIT report investigating the Ram Temple case, urging transparency to inform the public of the actual situation. He noted that trust in the Ram Temple Trust has waned and that mere resignations will not suffice; comprehensive reforms are necessary.
In Lucknow, Jitendra Narayan Singh (Wasim Rizvi) defended former Ram Temple Trust General Secretary Champat Rai, suggesting that his resignation appeared hasty. Singh, who has known Rai since 2009, acknowledged Rai’s significant contributions to the Ram Temple movement. He accused the opposition of attempting to tarnish the movement’s reputation. Singh challenged opposition leaders to disclose their contributions to the Ram Temple’s construction and movement, emphasizing that the temple is a center of faith for millions. He urged waiting for facts to emerge rather than seeking political advantage.
Singh further criticized certain opposition leaders for deliberately politicizing the issue, calling it unfortunate. He argued that those opposing the government should first prove their contributions to the Ram Temple’s construction, stating that questioning the temple and related issues without any involvement is malicious and absurd. He concluded that the public is well aware of these double standards.
