Srinagar, August 23: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) launched a series of raids on Saturday across ten locations in Srinagar, Kupwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Budgam. This operation is part of an investigation into a cross-border terrorist conspiracy involving a network of Pakistani operatives and local Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
The individuals involved are allegedly providing logistical and other forms of support to infiltrating terrorists. The objective of the raids was to gather documentary, digital, and physical evidence related to the conspiracy, as well as to uncover the roles of individuals allegedly connected to the local support network.
Based on an FIR registered at the Zakura police station in Srinagar, the NIA has re-registered the case. Charges have been filed under Section 23 of the UA (P) Act, 1967, Section 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, 1959, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. This case was initiated following the arrest of an OGW allegedly linked to the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) on March 31, 2026, who was found in possession of a grenade and live ammunition. During the investigation, Pakistani terrorists allegedly connected to this conspiracy were arrested, and the identities and roles of local support network members were also uncovered.
Current investigations reveal purported links between Pakistan-based operators and local collaborators, utilized for communication, logistical arrangements, the movement of terrorists, and providing shelter, espionage, and other types of support. The inquiry is also examining financial transactions, communication methods, the movement of suspects, and the sources of weapons and explosives to determine the full extent of the network and its activities.
Today’s raids are part of an ongoing investigation into a broader conspiracy supporting cross-border terrorism. Additional evidence related to the investigation has been obtained, and it is being analyzed and verified alongside other materials collected in the case. The NIA continues its efforts to identify all individuals involved in this conspiracy and ascertain their roles.
