Bengaluru, August 23: A young man has been arrested in Doddballapur, Bengaluru Rural district, for allegedly maintaining contact with Pakistan. This action was taken by the Doddballapur police based on information from the Counter Intelligence Cell and the Central Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The arrested individual has been identified as Syed Abubakar, 28, a resident of the Islam Pur area in Doddballapur. According to police, he had been in contact with a purported criminal gang based in Pakistan through Instagram for nearly two years.
Investigations revealed that his communication was linked to an Instagram account associated with the Shehzad Bhatti network. Police claim this gang has been involved in criminal activities such as extortion by threatening influential individuals and major businessmen.
Authorities stated that the accused had provided personal documents, including his Aadhaar card, to the relevant Instagram network and allegedly used accounts connected to it.
Reports indicate that Syed Abubakar worked in air conditioning repair and was also involved in teaching at a mosque in Bengaluru. Investigating agencies suspect he was operating under the directives of the Pakistan-based network.
Preliminary questioning has also revealed that the accused allegedly traveled to Kerala and Delhi, where he reportedly received some form of training. However, police are conducting a thorough investigation into these claims.
The Doddballapur police apprehended him at his home in Islam Pur. He is currently in custody for intensive questioning to gather more information about his network, contacts, and activities.
The police have filed a case against him under sections 113(3) and 197(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is ongoing, and security agencies are working to determine the extent of the accused’s connections and whether others are involved in this network.
