New Delhi, March 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate significant development projects worth approximately ₹33,500 crore in New Delhi on March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day. The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is making extensive preparations for this grand event. On Saturday, Chief Minister Gupta visited the venue to assess the arrangements.
She stated that the inauguration of these projects by the Prime Minister will enhance connectivity, traffic management, and overall quality of life in Delhi. This event is expected to be a substantial gift for the residents, featuring several key projects related to the expansion of the Delhi Metro. The Delhi government is fully committed to ensuring the success of this occasion.
Additionally, CM Rekha Gupta shared insights about the ‘Saheli Pink NCMC Card’ initiative launched for women. She posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Today, I traveled on a DTC bus using the Saheli Pink NCMC Card. You simply tap the card on the machine upon boarding, and the journey is instantly recorded. The entire process is quick, easy, and transparent. This is a highly convenient arrangement for the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Delhi.”
This card allows women to travel for free on Delhi’s DTC buses. Registration requires an Aadhaar number and a mobile number, and the card is being issued free of charge at various centers. The Chief Minister urged all women to obtain the Saheli Pink NCMC Card as soon as possible to take full advantage of this scheme.
The projects launching on Women’s Day include two new corridors of the Delhi Metro. The first corridor will connect Majlis Park, Maujpur, and Babarpur on the Pink Line, significantly improving connectivity in various areas of the capital. The second corridor will be established between Dipali Chowk and Majlis Park on the Magenta Line.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation for new corridors under Phase 5A, making travel easier for the residents of the national capital. These include the Central Vista Corridor from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, the Golden Line extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and the Golden Line extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj.
The Central Vista Corridor from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha will span 9.9 kilometers and will be constructed underground, featuring nine new metro stations.
