New Delhi, February 16: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Israel next week, as confirmed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This visit aims to enhance cooperation in defense, counter-terrorism, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

This will mark PM Modi’s first visit to Israel during his third term and his first since 2017. The timing is significant, as the strategic partnership between the two nations has strengthened recently. However, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has not yet confirmed the visit.

During a recent conference with the president of a major American Jewish organization, Netanyahu announced, “Who is coming here next week? Narendra Modi.” He emphasized the robust alliance between Israel and India, stating, “India is not a small country. It has 1.5 billion people. Israel is very popular in India.”

Netanyahu also highlighted the growing interest from other countries in strengthening ties with Israel, mentioning changes in Latin America and praising Argentina as a strong ally.

In related news, Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s firm stance on a potential deal with Iran, stressing that any agreement must include the removal of enriched materials and a halt to ballistic missile activities.

Addressing the same conference, he affirmed Israel’s commitment to its objectives in the Gaza conflict, emphasizing the need for the return of all hostages and the dismantling of Hamas’s military capabilities. He called for Hamas to disarm and for Gaza to be demilitarized.
