New Delhi, April 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Wednesday at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The meeting focused on reviewing measures taken by various ministries in response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia and discussed future strategies. This was the second special meeting on this issue.
The Cabinet Secretary reported that steps have been taken to ensure the supply of petroleum products, particularly LPG and LNG, which are now being sourced from different countries. He also mentioned that LPG prices for domestic consumers remain stable, with regular actions being taken to curb black marketing and hoarding.
Efforts are underway to increase piped natural gas (PNG) connections. To prevent power shortages during the summer, gas-based power plants have been granted certain concessions, and measures have been implemented to ensure a greater supply of coal to thermal power stations.
The meeting also addressed challenges in sectors such as agriculture, civil aviation, shipping, and logistics. Urea production continues to maintain fertilizer availability, and coordination for DAP/NPK fertilizers is being conducted with foreign sources. States have been instructed to closely monitor black marketing and hoarding of fertilizers.
Food prices have remained stable over the past month. Control rooms have been established to monitor prices, and there is ongoing communication with the states. Prices of vegetables, fruits, and other agricultural products are also under scrutiny.
New global sources are being explored for the supply of energy, food, and other essentials. Additionally, efforts to secure maritime routes and enhance diplomatic initiatives are ongoing.
The Prime Minister reviewed the availability of essential needs for the public and emphasized that every possible effort should be made to mitigate the impact of this global crisis on citizens. He also stressed the importance of disseminating accurate information to prevent the spread of rumors.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister directed all departments to take necessary actions to alleviate the issues faced by affected individuals and regions.
