
New Delhi, August 17: The Prime Minister‘s Office (PMO) has expressed deep sorrow regarding the fire incident at the Foreignini Hotel near the Tarapith police station in Birbhum district, West Bengal. The PMO extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic event and announced financial assistance for the victims’ families and the injured.
In a statement shared on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the deaths in the fire incident in Birbhum, West Bengal. I express my condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I wish a speedy recovery for the injured. The local administration is assisting those affected by this incident.”
The PMO also revealed that each family of the deceased will receive ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, while the injured will be given ₹50,000. The PMO stated, “Following the tragic incident in Birbhum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a financial aid of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured from the PM National Relief Fund.”
The unfortunate incident occurred around 4:30 AM at the Foreignini Hotel, located by a pond near the Tarapith police station in Birbhum district. Six people lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries.
The fire department was alerted, and firefighters arrived promptly to control the blaze after considerable effort. The injured were transported to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
