Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahmans Visit to India Should Happen Soon: Dinesh Trivedi

Dhaka, August 17: In a recent statement, Dinesh Trivedi, the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, expressed optimism about resolving issues through high-level meetings and dialogues. He emphasized that Prime Minister Tariq Rahman’s visit to India “should happen very soon.”

According to the Bangladesh news agency UNB, Trivedi stated, “Issues can only be resolved through meetings and discussions, and I am hopeful about this. Our hearts are quite close, and I want to see the beginning of a golden chapter in Bangladesh-India relations.”

Speaking at a welcome dinner hosted by Masood Jamil Khan, the Honorary Consul of Ireland in Bangladesh, and his wife Kate Jaro Khan, Trivedi remarked that Bangladesh and India do not merely share a border; they share a dream.

The Indian envoy noted that Bangladesh and India are two sovereign nations. “There is no doubt that we face many challenges, and believe me, if you do not have challenges, it is not democracy. Even if there are many issues in this system!”

He acknowledged that despite differences and arguments between the two countries, it is essential for the people of India and Bangladesh, as well as the entire world, to see them with respect and honor. “Efforts are ongoing, and I sincerely wish for the beginning of a golden era between India and Bangladesh,” he added.

Trivedi highlighted that both Prime Minister Tariq Rahman and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are people-oriented leaders. “I have often said in the media, wherever I have been asked, that when two such leaders meet and converse, no problem remains unresolved, and there is no issue that cannot be discussed and resolved.”
