India and Arab League Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Partnership

Cairo, August 18: The Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Sripriya Ranganathan, met with Ambassador Khalid Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, on Monday. They reiterated their commitment to strengthening their partnership.

The Indian Embassy in Egypt shared on ‘X’, “Secretary (CPV and OIA) Ms. Sripriya Ranganathan met with His Excellency Ambassador Khalid Manzalawi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League. The primary focus of the discussion was on advancing the ‘Executive Program 2026-28,’ adopted during the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting. This includes concrete initiatives in new and emerging areas of cooperation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India-Arab partnership.”

On Sunday, the Secretary highlighted India’s priorities for its BRICS 2026 presidency at the India-Egypt BRICS Partnership Conference.

The embassy stated, “Ms. Sripriya Ranganathan addressed the inaugural session of the India-Egypt BRICS Partnership Conference held at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo. This conference was organized by the Indian Embassy in collaboration with the Indian Council of World Affairs.”

It further noted, “Secretary Ranganathan emphasized India’s BRICS 2026 presidency priorities and how the India-Egypt strategic partnership provides a strong foundation for close cooperation within BRICS and advancing the priorities of the Global South.”

Secretary Ranganathan is on an official visit to Egypt, Palestine, and Lebanon from August 16 to 21.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during her visit, Secretary Ranganathan will meet with her counterparts and various stakeholders.

The ministry stated, “This visit will focus on strengthening India’s friendly relations with these countries and will also provide an opportunity to discuss regional developments and other issues of mutual interest.”

It also mentioned that this is the Secretary’s first visit to these countries in her current role, and it is expected to further enhance India’s relations with the region.
