Mayawati Demands Strict Action After Murder of IPS Officers Mother in Ambedkarnagar

Lucknow, August 17: The tragic murder of the nearly 91-year-old mother of senior IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra in Ambedkarnagar has raised serious concerns about law and order in Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, expressed her sorrow over the incident and called for stringent action against the culprits. She questioned the safety of the general public when even the family of a police officer is not secure.

Mayawati took to social media platform X, stating, “The murder of the elderly mother of senior IPS officer Mr. Ashutosh Mishra in Ambedkarnagar is extremely tragic and raises serious concerns regarding law and order in the state. It is valid for people to worry that if such a heinous crime can occur to a police officer’s family, what will happen to the safety of the common people? The government must take appropriate notice of this incident and ensure strict legal action against those responsible, which is absolutely necessary.”

In a similar vein, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav also commented on the issue, expressing his sorrow over the news of the IPS officer’s mother’s murder. He remarked that if police officers themselves are not safe, it is indeed unfortunate.

Authorities in Ambedkarnagar have initiated an investigation into the case, exploring various angles, including the possibility of murder. Initially, it was reported that the woman had died of a heart attack, but Ashutosh Mishra later raised suspicions of foul play, noting that jewelry was missing. Following this, a forensic team examined the scene. No clear signs of injury or struggle were found on the body. A panel of three doctors conducted the autopsy under video surveillance.
