New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the centenary celebration of the Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) at Delhi University on September 5. During the event, he praised the college’s remarkable 100-year journey, emphasizing that SRCC is more than just an educational institution; it has been a source of inspiration connecting generations to brighter futures.
In his address, Modi described the day as historic for SRCC and extended his heartfelt wishes for the centenary celebration. “When an institution reaches its 100th year, it becomes an ocean of achievements and inspirations,” he stated.
He reflected on SRCC’s humble beginnings in a small campus in Daryaganj, which has now grown into a vast banyan tree that has provided education and opportunities for many generations.
Highlighting the college’s prestige, Modi remarked, “If anyone asks which college you belong to and you reply ‘SRCC’, that itself is a significant identity. Just saying ‘SRCC’ is a form of prestige.”
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the accomplishments of SRCC alumni, calling them the true “OGs” who have made the college proud globally and established their identities in various fields.
Modi fondly remembered former Union Minister Arun Jaitley, noting that he seldom had a meeting with Jaitley that did not include stories from their SRCC days. He smiled as he recalled how Jaitley often shared those anecdotes.
Additionally, he mentioned that his team member and economist Sanjeev Sanyal is also an SRCC alumnus. Modi pointed out that the college has produced not only economists but also artists, politicians, lawyers, judges, and many distinguished personalities across various sectors.
Before attending the centenary celebration, Modi traveled to SRCC via the Delhi Metro, where he engaged in casual conversations with students and fellow passengers, accepting their greetings warmly.
