New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, is set to embark on an official visit to India from September 7 to 9, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday.
Bettel will arrive in New Delhi on Monday, September 7, where he will engage in discussions with Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at Hyderabad House on the same day. Following his meetings in the capital, Bettel will travel to Chennai on Tuesday to visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
During Jaishankar’s official visit to Luxembourg in January, Bettel expressed his desire to strengthen ties with India and highlighted the significant role the Indian community plays in the development of Luxembourg’s technology, digital, and financial sectors.
In his opening remarks during their last meeting, Bettel expressed his appreciation for Jaishankar’s commitment, stating, “I want to welcome Dr. Jaishankar to Luxembourg and just say that I appreciate people who say something and do it. You told me last year when we met in Delhi that you would come to Luxembourg, and here you are.”
Bettel noted the long-standing history between the two nations, mentioning that India is the 10th largest community in Luxembourg. He expressed confidence that their discussions would further deepen the relationship between India and Luxembourg.
He remarked, “I must tell you that without Indian knowledge, the technological growth of my country would not be the same. When I look at digital, finance, and space, I can continue to list our areas of collaboration.”
