New Delhi, February 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the 2026-27 Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha, describing it as a blueprint for India’s economic transformation. He emphasized that this budget focuses on reforms, small industries, skill development, modern infrastructure, health, and education, aiming to provide the country with a new direction for growth.

PM Modi shared on the social media platform ‘X’, “In her speech in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman detailed how this year’s budget will contribute to our nation’s economic transformation. She highlighted support for small and medium enterprises, skill development, the promotion of next-generation infrastructure, healthcare, and education.”

The budget, presented in Parliament on February 1, places a special focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which contribute nearly 30% to the country’s GDP and provide employment to over 110 million people. The Finance Minister announced measures to enhance loan availability for MSMEs, simplify regulations, and offer targeted incentives to help small industries connect with global supply chains and expand. She stated that MSMEs are the backbone of India’s development journey, and this budget will provide them with the necessary support for innovation and job creation.

Skill development and job creation are also key priorities of the budget. The government proposed new initiatives to train youth in emerging sectors such as green energy, advanced manufacturing, and digital technology. Plans are in place to promote partnerships between industries and educational institutions to provide better employment opportunities for young people.

In the infrastructure sector, the government emphasized next-generation projects. Proposals include increasing investments in digital connectivity, renewable energy corridors, logistics networks, and urban development.

Additionally, health and education have been prioritized in the budget. The aim is to enhance funding and reforms in these sectors to improve facilities in remote and underdeveloped areas.

Economic experts believe this budget arrives at a crucial time when India is striving to strengthen its position as one of the fastest-growing major economies amid global uncertainties and changing supply chains. The government reiterated its commitment to growth-oriented spending while maintaining financial discipline.
