Prime Minister Narendra Modi has kicked off a two-day visit to Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, during which he marked a significant milestone under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U). On the first day of his visit in Siwan, Bihar, PM Modi transferred the first installment of housing funds directly into the bank accounts of 53,666 beneficiaries under the Urban Housing Scheme.
In addition, PM Modi performed Griha Pravesh ceremonies by handing over keys to newly built concrete houses to 6,684 families — turning their dream of home ownership into a reality. If you are also a beneficiary of PMAY-U, here’s how you can quickly check whether your installment has been credited to your account.
How to Check If Your PMAY Installment Has Been Credited
Check SMS Notifications
If your mobile number is registered under PMAY, you should have received an SMS from the department confirming the credit of the first installment. Your bank may also send an SMS once the funds hit your account — this is the easiest and quickest way to check.Use an ATM to Check Your Balance
If you haven’t received an SMS, simply visit your nearest ATM and check your account balance or request a mini statement. This will show whether the installment amount has been credited.Update Your Passbook
If you don’t have ATM access, visit your bank branch and update your passbook. This traditional method will clearly show whether the installment has been received.Check via Missed Call
Many banks now offer balance enquiry via missed call services. You can find the missed call number on your bank’s website or by visiting the branch. Calling this number will give you instant information about your balance and recent transactions.
About PM Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U)
Launched in June 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) is one of the Government of India’s flagship programs aimed at providing affordable housing to every urban family in need. The scheme targets families living in poor housing conditions or without a permanent home and offers financial assistance for new construction. In many cases, homes are constructed directly by the government and allocated to beneficiaries.
The scheme focuses on providing dignified housing for urban poor, including the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG), and Middle Income Group (MIG). PMAY-U is also driving the development of slum areas, helping millions of families move into permanent homes with better living standards.
With the latest installment release and ongoing efforts to provide affordable housing, PMAY-U continues to transform the lives of millions across India.
